Munich, June 19, 2026. Next2Sun, a pioneer and technology leader in vertical photovoltaic systems, is expanding its product portfolio with the new mounting system Fields2Sun Max. The solution is specifically designed for developers and investors of large-scale utility-scale PV power plants and addresses key challenges facing modern energy markets.
In mature photovoltaic markets such as Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom, conventional generation concepts are coming under increasing pressure. High electricity feed-in during the central hours of the day is driving spot market prices down—sometimes even into negative territory. This so-called price cannibalization significantly undermines the profitability of both existing and new projects.
Vertical photovoltaic systems offer a decisive advantage in this context: they generate the majority of their electricity in the morning and evening hours, when power prices are typically higher. Next2Sun has been successfully developing, manufacturing and installing such vertical PV systems since 2016, primarily for Agri-PV applications.
Consistent Expansion of the Utility Segment
With Fields2Sun Max, Next2Sun is now systematically transferring its proven vertical PV concept to the requirements of large-scale energy projects and is consistently advancing the strategic expansion of its utility-scale business. A key milestone in this process is the strengthening of the management team: as of June 1, 2026, Christian Comes has joined Next2Sun as Head of Sales Utility.
In this role, he is responsible for the further development and international expansion of the utility business segment, as well as for overseeing large-scale projects worldwide. Christian Comes brings many years of experience in the solar industry and previously served as Head of Business Development Europe at Huasun Solar. With his strong background in international project development, he will further strengthen Next2Sun’s position in the utility-scale PV market.
Technology for Utility-Scale Applications
Fields2Sun Max has been specifically developed for deployment in large-scale PV power plants and offers a wide range of advantages:
- Maximum module flexibility: Fields2Sun Max can be combined both with optimized Next2Sun modules and with standard modules from leading manufacturers. The system is specifically designed for the installation of high-power modules (>700 Wp), supporting current trends in the utility-scale market, which is an important advantage for bankability.
- Reliable yield forecasts: multi-year real-world yield data, together with internally and externally validated simulations – including ray-tracing technology – ensure a high level of planning certainty.
- High resilience to weather impacts: The vertical design is significantly less susceptible to damage from hail and snow loads than conventional fixed-tilt or tracker systems. The structures are engineered to withstand high wind loads without deformation or performance losses.
- Market-ready solution: Fields2Sun Max is already being deployed in initial utility-scale projects and is available immediately for planning and implementation.
