Start of crowd investment for the agri-solar park “Camino Adorf” – East Germany’s largest planned vertical agrivoltaics plant

Neukirchen/Erzgebirgskreis, February 25, 2026

With the launch of a new crowd investment, Next2Sun is opening up the opportunity for citizens to participate in one of the most exciting agrivoltaics projects in eastern Germany: the agri-solar park “Camino Adorf”.

Energy production meets tradition – inspiration from the Way of St. James

The approximately 15.8-hectare construction site in the municipality of Neukirchen is to generate clean energy in the future, continue to be used for agriculture and at the same time strengthen regional businesses. Only a few hundred meters from the Saxon Way of St. James, the vertical agri-PV plant is being built, whose name “Camino Adorf” is a deliberate reminiscence of the famous “Camino” in the direction of Santiago de Compostela. Pilgrims can spend the night on the neighbouring farm of the landlords and receive their official pilgrim’s stamp – a place that combines agriculture, culture and hospitality.

Agriculture and solar energy strengthen regional value creation

The vertical agrivoltaics system creates an interplay between agriculture and energy generation. Due to the vertical elevation of the modules, the cultivation of the area remains almost unrestricted – a real advantage for the agricultural business, which cultivates its land completely on its own.

The areas are mainly used to grow field grass for the company’s own horse farm located in Adorf. The feed for the animals thus comes entirely from our own organic production. The entire farm is certified as organic and stands for sustainable regional agriculture.

After completion, the agri-solar park will generate around 6,200 MWh (6.2 million kWh) of green electricity annually – enough to supply around 1,900 three-person households. This means that “Camino Adorf” will be one of the most powerful systems of its kind in eastern Germany in the future and will send a clear signal for innovative energy solutions in rural areas.

Attractive conditions of the crowd investment

For Next2Sun, citizen participation via crowd investments is a central building block for the successful implementation of agrivoltaics projects. They not only enable the financial participation of local people, but also strengthen regional acceptance and identification with the project. Through attractive conditions such as early subscriber or regional bonuses, Next2Sun creates additional incentives to involve the population directly in the sustainable development of their region – and thus secure the basis for project success in the long term.
