During the BSW general assembly, Dr. Gunter Erfurt, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Next2Sun AG, was elected yesterday to the Executive Board of the German Solar Association (BSW).
Dr. Erfurt has many years of experience and extensive expertise in the solar industry. As CEO of Meyer Burger Technology AG (2020–2024), he successfully led the company’s transformation from a machine manufacturer to Europe’s leading producer of solar cells and modules. Since August 2025, he has served as Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Next2Sun AG, contributing his expertise to the field of vertical photovoltaics.
In addition, he is the founder, advisor, and board member of several technology companies in the fields of solar energy, battery technology, and artificial intelligence. With his new role on the BSW Executive Board, Dr. Erfurt aims to actively shape the strategic development of the German and European solar industry. His key focus areas include:
- Strengthening the grid compatibility of photovoltaic systems for better integration into the energy system,
- Promoting innovative PV concepts such as Agri-PV, vertical PV, and building-integrated photovoltaics,
- Strategic networking between technology, politics, and market players,
- Supporting the domestic PV industry and supply chains in the face of global
