The Next2Sun Group is consistently driving forward its international expansion and announces the founding of NEXT2SUN ITALIA SRL. With the new subsidiary, the company is creating the structural foundations to further develop the rapidly growing market for innovative agrivoltaics solutions in Italy.
Italy offers particularly favorable conditions for Next2Sun’s vertical agrivoltaics technology. Legislative developments in recent years have created clear and investment-secure frameworks that explicitly support the combination of agriculture and photovoltaics. As a result, the regulatory environment in Italy is among the most attractive in Europe – an important factor for Next2Sun’s expansion strategy.
Right from the start, Next2Sun is experiencing dynamic project development in Italy: Three plants are currently under construction – a 1 MW project in Venice with conventional agriculture (soybean cultivation), a 0.8 MW project, also in Venice, dedicated to flower cultivation, and a 0.1 MW installation in Emilia Romagna, likewise designed for flower cultivation. These initial projects demonstrate how well Next2Sun’s vertical agrivoltaics system aligns with the country’s regulatory framework: With only one percent land coverage, agricultural use remains fully intact, machinery can continue operating almost without restrictions, and biodiversity is enhanced.
“With this establishment, we are opening a new chapter in our European growth story,” says Sascha Krause-Tünker, Managing Director of the newly founded NEXT2SUN ITALIA SRL. “Italy has excellent regulatory guidelines and enormous potential for agrivoltaics. We are excited to help shape this opportunity on the ground. With our new subsidiary, we are driving the energy transition where the conditions are particularly promising.”
The new subsidiary will coordinate activities on the ground, support project development, and build long-term partnerships with agricultural businesses, energy suppliers, and local authorities.
With its expansion into Italy, Next2Sun continues its international growth trajectory. The company plans to establish its proven technology in additional European markets in the future.
