At its Annual General Meeting on August 18, 2025, Next2Sun AG set an important course for the future. In addition to approving the actions of the Management Board and Supervisory Board for the 2024 financial year, regular elections to the Supervisory Board were on the agenda. Dr. Gunter Erfurt was newly elected to the board and subsequently appointed as its new chairman by the members of the Supervisory Board.
‘In Dr. Gunter Erfurt, we have gained a proven expert in the photovoltaic industry and a staunch advocate of innovative energy solutions for our company,’ emphasizes Heiko Hildebrandt, CEO of Next2Sun AG. ‘His technical expertise and many years of industry experience are a great asset for our continued growth.’
Dr. Erfurt has held various positions at Meyer Burger since 2015, most recently as CEO of Meyer Burger Technology AG. In this role, he played a key role in driving the company’s transformation into a leading provider of sustainable solar cell technology ‘Made in Europe’.
In addition to his operational activities, Dr. Erfurt is involved in numerous committees in the solar industry, including as a member of the board of the German Solar Industry Association (BSW-Solar) and the board of SolarPower Europe. He is also a member of the scientific advisory board of the Institute for Solar Energy Research Hameln (ISFH) and was a long-standing member of the board of trustees at Fraunhofer ISE.
Dr. Erfurt himself sees Next2Sun AG as a company with enormous potential: “Next2Sun stands for innovative solutions from Germany and strong domestic value creation. I look forward to actively shaping its further development.”
Of the five members of the Supervisory Board of Next2Sun AG, the terms of office of three members ended as scheduled. In addition to Dr. Gunter Erfurt, the new members of the Supervisory Board are Ute Melzer-Metzger and Andreas Roth. The Management Board would like to thank Mr. Brill and Mr. Bachelier for their many years of commitment and valuable work in the company’s start-up phase. The terms of office of the remaining members, Mr. Terheyden and Mr. Amrhein, were not affected by these elections and will continue unchanged.
“Due to the pending Solar Package I, the environment in the agrivoltaics sector in Germany remains very difficult – but we see additional opportunities for our business model due to increasing market value advantages,” explains Sascha Krause-Tünker, CFO of Next2Sun AG. “In Dr. Gunter Erfurt, we have gained a Supervisory Board Chairman who shares our vision and wants to actively drive forward the energy transition together with us.”
